Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-positive cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis associated with propylthiouracil therapy.

چکیده
A dministration of propylthiouracil therapy has been associated with a hypersensitivity syndrome that typically manifests as vasculitis. Most cases of propylthiouracil therapy– induced antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) positivity react to perinuclear ANCA (p-ANCA). We describe a patient who presented with cutaneous manifestations of propylthiouracil therapy hypersensitivity vasculitis with ANCA positivity.

Leukocytoclastic vasculitis and interstitial nephritis with carbimazole treatment.
Carbimazole is a common treatment for hyperthyroidism in the UK. Its main side effects include a rash, agranulocytosis and rarely a lupus-like syndrome. Although vasculitis associated with antineutrophil anticytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) has been reported on several occasions following treatment with propylthiouracil, vasculitis with carbimazole appears to be less common. We report a case of le...
متن کاملClinical study of renal impairment in patients with propylthiouracil-induced small-vessel vasculitis and patients with primary ANCA-associated small-vessel vasculitis
The aim of this study was to compare renal impairment in patients with propylthiouracil (PTU)-induced small-vessel vasculitis and patients with primary anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-induced small-vessel vasculitis. The study compared the pathology and clinical conditions of 10 patients with PTU-associated small-vessel vasculitis and 18 patients with primary ANCA-associated small-v...
متن کاملAntineutrophilic Cytoplasmic Antibody Positive Vasculitis Associated with Methimazole Use
ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV) is a rare and potentially life threatening complication associated with antithyroid drug use. It is more commonly reported with propylthiouracil, with fewer cases reported with methimazole use. We present the case of a 55-year-old man with toxic multinodular goiter which was treated with methimazole for 6 months. He developed ANCA positive leukocytoclastic vascu...
متن کاملPropylthiouracil-induced alveolar haemorrhage associated with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody.
Propylthiouracil (PTU) is known to cause vasculitis as a rare complication. We report the case of a patient who developed alveolar haemorrhage and haematuria whilst treated with PTU. The serum was positive for antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) with myeloperoxidase (MPO) specificity (MPO-ANCA). All symptoms resolved completely after discontinuation of PTU. Alveolar haemorrhage or pulmon...
متن کاملA Case of p-ANCA-Positive Propylthiouracil-Induced Pyoderma Gangrenosum.
Propylthiouracil is a common medication used in patients with hyperthyroidism; it can cause perinuclear antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (p-ANCA) in some patients with Graves' disease. This antibody has been associated with various forms of vasculitis and neutrophilic dermatosis. Herein, we report a patient who presented with cutaneous manifestations of pyoderma gangrenosum with simultaneo...
